Residential Carpet Cleaning

Should I get my carpets cleaned during winter or on a rainy day?

For some companies, this might be a concern. Not for us here at Beyond Clean Group though! Not only are we one of the most experienced companies that provide carpet cleaning on the Sunshine Coast, we have also heavily invested in some of the most powerful equipment. What this means, is that rain, hail or shine, no matter the season that we can always provide a fantastic standard of clean with a dry time that won’t inconvenience you or your family.

Why do your prices vary from other carpet cleaners?

The simple answer is: quality in workmanship and reputation. Lets look at the facts

On Going Training. Every one of our staff is trained by a technical cleaning college called Jena Dyco International in a variety of disciplines. We operate in an unregulated industry, so approximately 90% of “professional” (and we use that term loosely) cleaners have never been trained or scrutinised to make sure they are cleaning to both national and international standards, or that they even understand the fundamentals. This training doesn’t come cheap and costs us thousands of dollars per staff member. However, it is one of the factors that separate professionals from unprofessional businesses.

History and Experience. Between our staff, we have been in the cleaning industry longer than any other cleaner here on the Sunshine Coast! In that time we have organized and cleaned over 42,000 homes and businesses. This volume of experience has allowed us to learn exactly what to do, and what not to do to achieve the best result for you. And we are continually learning as well.

The most POWERFUL equipment. The majority of the carpet cleaning firms use smaller electric extractors that have limited vacuum and little to no heat, or they use a simple rotary scrubbing machines with some form of absorbent pads underneath them. Here at Beyond Clean, we also carry this type of equipment, but use these as secondary cleaning systems with other performance boosters and only use them where absolutely necessary.

Our primary unit though is a self-contained vehicle mounted high pressure, high temperature extraction unit. When we wash our dishes, we realize that hot water helps dissolve and lift stains. The same is true when cleaning your carpets. Unfortunately, most other carpet cleaners that use electric extractors will simply use the hot water that comes from your bathroom tap, which is about 50 deg C. Our very large vehicle mounted unit super heats its own water to approximately 120 deg C. That’s over twice the grease melting and stain busting heat that most other cleaners have access too. But the real reason our unit is the most powerful here on the Sunshine Coast is due to its vacuum and extraction power. This machine has almost two and a half times more drying power than a standard machine most carpet cleaners utilise. What does all this tech talk mean for you? It means that combined with our experience, our high performance equipment will allow us clean the maximum amount of soil and staining from your carpet, while leaving them as soft and dry as possible.

When comparing prices, make sure you ask a lot of questions and please keep a few things in mind. Our price includes treating for spots, moving furniture, and a 7-day satisfaction policy. We are the one of the most experienced cleaning companies on the coast. We use the most powerful equipment. There are no hidden fees or additional charges after we give you the quote. Also, we never sub-contact, so our technicians are always police checked, drug tested and properly trained and certified Beyond Clean Group employees. This is what allows us to stand behind all of our work, and why our business has succeeded on word of mouth referrals.

You mention your IICRC certifications. What is the IICRC and why should I care?

The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) has served as the industry sentinel for the cleaning, inspection and restoration service industries for more than 30 years. The IICRC helps ensure that you have access to trusted and trained cleaning professionals by establishing and monitoring certification programs and standards for these industries.

To qualify for IICRC-Certified Firm status businesses must demonstrate proof of insurance, maintain a written customer complaint policy with documented follow-up and provide ongoing education and training leading to certification for all technicians. IICRC Certified Firms are also required to abide by the IICRC Code of Ethics.

Regular professional cleaning using a IICRC trained technician is as important to your carpet as having a trained mechanic perform routine tune-ups on your car. While your carpet may appear clean on the surface, periodic cleaning by a certified technician can remove what you can’t see and help your carpet retain its fresh, beautiful appearance. In an unregulated industry, using a company that has all of its staff trained to IICRC standards is the BEST level of insurance you could choose when selecting a cleaning professional to enter your home to clean and protect your investment, all the while giving you peace of mind.

Can you fix indentations from heavy furniture?

No guarantee can be made on removing indentations from heavy furniture, as the weight of the items that have left the indentations will have a large bearing on the results we can achieve. In addition to the pile of the carpet being crushed, the backing of the carpet can be stretched and the underlay can be flattened. Heat, moisture and usage of large vacuum with our equipment may help, but it will take time to release back to normal, if at all. Severe cases may be permanent.

Can you clean apartments and high rise dwellings?

Definitely! Yes, we use the same safe but efficient cleaning solutions but utilize slightly different equipment and technology to allow for a thorough cleaning no matter what your location.

Will I be charged a cancellation fee if I cancel by booking?

We understand that plans change, and if you wish to cancel prior to receiving our appointment confirmation via SMS or email you are free to do so. If however we have allocated your appointment and confirmed via SMS or email, we will charge a cancellation fee of $ 65.00. You are more than welcome to reschedule once with being charged a cancellation fee providing it is more than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment.

Why do you charge by the Square Metre instead of Per Room like others do?

Quite simply, it is the fairest solution for you as the consumer engaging a company. It stops some companies who use ‘per room’ pricing who then turns up and extracts more money from you because you job is larger than they assumed (which is also a typical “Bait and Switch” tactic too). There can be confusion with some consumers as well if a lounge and dining room are considered as one if there are no walls separating them. With our system, you only pay for exactly what we clean. If your room size is smaller than what is considered ‘standard’, you pay less.

Should I go with the cheapest advertised price I can find for carpet cleaning?

Unfortunately many companies in our industry do not practice ethical service standards and will often times mislead the consumer. Offering a low price to get into someone’s home then, once they are in the home, they use high-pressure sales tactics to increase the invoice amount. It is an old trick called bait and switch. Simply, they want you to book with them because the price is too good to refuse. Often times you will find companies charging extra for pre-conditioning, vacuuming, heavy duty cleaning, deodorizing, fuel charges, travel and many other variations. Often the customer will end up with an invoice that is often a few times the original amount quoted. Here at Beyond Clean Group through, we have developed a system and protocol to achieving an award-winning standard at the agreed price we provide after we have inspected your floor coverings. For families looking for a cleaner, healthier, longer-lasting result… the decision is clear – Beyond Clean Group!

Do you move furniture?

Our crews are professionally trained to move your light furniture, and return it to its rightful place when cleaning is completed (please remove any valuables, knick knacks and breakables prior to our arrival). For liability purposes, we cannot be responsible for heavier furniture (like some beds, bookcases, china cabinets, entertainment cabinets etc.). In these kinds of situations our technicians will work around these pieces delicately.

Any furniture that has exposed timber or metal legs/feet that contact the carpet while it is still damp may react with the moisture and cause a stain, and the stain may be impossible to remove (timber stains especially). All furniture that will be returned to its original position will have protective blocks or tabs placed under the feet. These protective items should remain under the furnishings for 24hrs before removal. Any furniture that has been removed from the room for the cleaning is best left off for 24 hours.

How often should I have my carpets cleaned?

Carpet Manufacturers and indoor air quality specialists recommend getting a professional cleaning at least every 6-12 month (see chart below). Your carpets, upholstery, and mattresses act as air filters in your home and trap air borne contaminants. If you are waiting for your carpets to look soiled before cleaning, then you are waiting too long. Schedule your cleaning on a regular cycle to ensure a clean in-home air environment. This will also make your asset have a longer life span as well.

How long will it take for my carpet to dry?

Dry time is affected by humidity; temperature and air flow to the area. Using fans in any rooms cleaned and turning your air conditioning or heating system on, depending on the time of year, can help accelerate drying time. Be especially careful when walking from damp, carpeted areas on to non-carpeted areas to avoid slipping.

The biggest thing the affects dry times is what process has been used and the degree of soiling that needed to be removed from your carpet. Typically our dry times can range from 30 minutes to 4 hours.

Do you charge for an estimate or a quote?

No, we do not charge for an estimate. Based on the answers we receive from you from questions we have asked, we are more than willing to give you an obligation free estimate over the phone, and will confirm a quote after we have inspected the site personally prior to preceding. After we have measured the areas to be serviced, THERE IS NO HIDDEN FEES OR CHARGES. The price we quote is the price you pay!

Do you guarantee removal of all spots or stains in the carpet?

Upon our initial pre inspection walk through, we will discuss with you whether any spot we find will respond or can be removed as part of our standard cleaning package (about 85% of spots come out due to the power of our equipment and cleaning solutions used) or if extra treatment and the likelihood of the spot being able to be removed, partially removed or lightened or if the spot is deemed to be a stain and could be permanent.

If at the completion of cleaning there are still the odd stain that have not been removed in the cleaning process that require extra treatments such as “Heat transfer methods” or “Spot dyeing” these procedures will be discussed with you and a quote given for the removal of these more difficult areas.

We cannot guarantee that we will remove all spots or stains (especially if the stain had been previously cleaned improperly thus setting the stain permanently) as there are certain substances that can permanently discolor and damage the carpet fibers beyond repair. Our trained technicians are certified with IICRC and have had Advanced Stain Removal training. Combine this with the use a variety of modern products and techniques we are generally very successful often astonishing our clients with what we can do and other cleaners in the past were unable to do.

Can you get the pet odour out of my carpet?

This is a very common problem that we get asked to rectify and yes, we can definitely help deal with your pet odour situation. The problem with pet odour is that it can be much deeper than it first appears. Imagine an iceberg. Although you can see a stain on top of the carpet pet (and human) urine easily soaks through pile of the carpet and into the backing of the carpet and even the underlay. In more severe cases the urine can penetrate into the sub-floor (timber or concrete). The urine deposits also provides a food source and aid in the growth of bacteria. This in turn contributes to a worsening of the odour problem. Urine that is left in the carpet can contribute to a weakening of the dyes and even a permanent color loss in the effected area. Left untreated over a period of time, the odour can become absorbed into many of the porous materials in your home. Curtains, upholstered furniture and baseboards are just a few of the materials that can be absorbed these odours. We offer a range of solutions to help you solve your pet odour problems.

So depending on the level of contamination, we can offer anything from a topical treatment, to guaranteed complete pet odour by removal and replacement of effected underlay, sealing of the subfloor and cleaning of both sides of the carpet. Time is of the essence though. So the quicker you contact our customer support team and engage our expertise, the cheaper it will actually be for you to remediate this problem before the damage sinks in, literally.

What method do you use for cleaning?

While there are a variety of professional cleaning systems, the most common are referred to Steam Cleaning (also known as Hot Water Extraction) and Dry Cleaning. Both of these systems have strengths and weaknesses, and you might have your own preference to what service you would like performed also. If you ask friends and family, you will find that prefer Steam Cleaning, and some that prefer Dry Cleaning. A lot of it comes down to the technician performing the service.

Which is best, Steam Cleaning or Dry Cleaning

If you ask a ‘Steam cleaner’ this question they will likely tell you steam cleaning is better because it cleans deeper than ‘dry cleaning’. ‘Dry Cleaning’ is merely a surface clean that is designed to give carpet the appearance of clean because there is no actual wet extraction. Deep down dirt and grit embedded deep into your carpet needs to be removed; especially in high traffic areas because it wears away at the fibers and can cause your carpet to wear out prematurely and only ‘Steam Cleaning’ can do this.
If you ask a company that provides Carpet ‘Dry cleaning’ the same question, they will likely to tell you that dry cleaning is better than ‘Steam Cleaning’ because their system won’t leave your carpets wet for days. Carpets dry quicker with their method as water doesn’t penetrate backing and underlay. They will then go on to explain that excess water can cause some carpets to shrink or wrinkle, and cause odours if the get over wet.
Just as a good mechanic has more than one tool in his tool box, here at Beyond Clean Group we understand the strengths and weaknesses and are VERY PROFIECENT in using both methods and depending on the type of carpet, level of soiling or age of your floor covering, we will expertly assess which of the different cleaning systems will produce the best result for you.

As we clean to the carpet cleaning standard AS/NZS 3733:1995 we do prefer to utilize the Hot Water Extraction (aka Steam Cleaning) method first and foremost due to it’s superior cleaning and flushing ability. Think about washing your hair, you don’t just use a spritz of water, we generally use a volume of water to thoroughly rinse the oils and contaminates out. When using our platinum service, we thoroughly vacuum your carpet with an industrial grade vacuum, then we apply and gently massage a specially formulated cleaning solution and work that in and around the carpet fibre to get even coverage from the tip to the base of your carpet fibre. After leaving the cleaning solution a small period of time to release and surround the foreign soils, we then flush a very hot, but controlled amount water through the fibres which is then immediately extracted with our extremely powerful vacuum system that extracts a high volume of the deep-down dirt, allergens, and moisture, leaving your carpet the cleanest if possibly can be, from top to bottom. We then apply a conditioning rinse to leave the carpet in the softest state and can be, before we speed dry it.

By doing it to this standard YOU get best of both worlds. The cleanliness of Steam Cleaning (aka Hot Water Extraction) and a dry time that rivals dry cleaning! However, as we stated earlier, if you have a personal preference, we are happy to oblige, but would prefer to select the best method, based on our experience after we have inspected your flooring.

I have heard that cleaning my carpet makes it soil faster. Is this true?

This generally results rom cleaning detergent residues being left in the carpet, which attract dirt. This happens because of a previously using an uncertified and untrained operator, using an operator that used an inferior cleaning process, or using a company that didn’t have industrial/powerful equipment (often it is a combination of all three). Because of our training, experience and powerful equipment, we leaves little to no sticky residue behind to attract dirt.

Do I have to be home while my carpet is being cleaned?

While we love meeting our customers face to face, our businesses massive success is built off of our trustworthy and honest reputation. Therefore it is not necessary that you be home while your carpet is cleaned because our trained and certified technicians are police checked, reliable and insured. If the job is out of the ordinary, we recommend that someone meet us onsite prior to cleaning to discuss any areas of concern you have with your flooring, and which cleaning package you would prefer.

Many clients feel at ease leaving us unattended while they are at work or running their daily errands. It is quite common for our clients to meet with us then leave when we’re ready to begin cleaning. Many of our clients choose to leave a key in a designated spot, or have a friend, relative or neighbor meet us. If questions arise we will call your contact number and discuss them with you. When we are finished, we can simply leave the key in a designated predetermined area and lock ourselves out.

What should I do to prepare before the technicians arrive?

Other than large furniture, please remove all items from the floor (waste baskets, potted plants, brief cases, toys, etc.) and if you have the ability, give the floor a light vacuuming in the traffic areas prior to our arrival. While our certified technicians will do it as part of our premium service, if a quick vacuum is done prior to our arrival, it will allow us to see any areas of concern that you might have very clearly and therefore we can let you know the expected result before we even start.

As we will be using equipment that makes noise and the floors will be damp, so at the scheduled time of your appointment, please make appropriate arrangements for your children and pets to keep them safe and secure.

After my carpet was cleaned, it has bubbles or ripples in the carpet. What caused this?

As the carpet dries, these bubbles or ripples should start to lay flat again. Once it is dry they should be virtually unnoticeable. This is usually a sign that the carpet was in need of restretching prior to the cleaning and in fact hasn’t been installed correctly. If these ripples do not go away after it is completely dry, please contact our customer support team and we can have our expert technicians also fix that situation for you.

Why do some stains reappear after the carpets have dried?

This is generally caused by a sticky residue from a previous spill or spot. When we flush water through the carpet fibre to thoroughly clean it, sometimes there can be large deposits of residue and soiling hidden underneath your carpet backing. When evaporation occurs, moisture (and anything dirt or residue that is solubilised within that moisture) rises from the base of the carpet to the top (a process called ‘wicking’), before the water component evaporates leaving whatever else that was contained with it, remaining on the surface of the carpet. Sometimes this process can take days to be visible. While sometimes you might not even know what was spilt on that location as it could have even been done from a previous owner or tenant, and it has only become apparent when the carpet has now been properly cleaned and flushed. If you notice this within the first 7 days, please be sure to call us back within and we will be happy to return and retreat the area for FREE!!!
